Der Grüne Punkt has been nominated as one of three companies for the final of the German Sustainability Award for Companies, Waste Management and Recycling. The selection was made by a prominent jury of experts from politics, science and society.

“The world's mountains of waste contain valuable primary raw materials that are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. Their recovery occupies an entire industry,” says the homepage of the German Sustainability Award. “The collection, sorting and reprocessing of recyclable materials plays a transformative role. Waste management is becoming the missing link for a new raw materials industry – a powerful driver for the circular economy and the development of new material flows.”

Since 1991, Der Grüne Punkt has helped to establish the world's first dual system for the collection and recycling of used sales packaging in Germany and is now driving forward the development of holistic plastics recycling.

The German Sustainability Award for Companies will be presented on November 28, 2024 in Düsseldorf.
